The festive period is a traditional time to find out how friends are doing and it is a real pleasure to hear from many ex patients that things have been so different this holiday by being in recovery.
It is also so encouraging to hear how well people do once the terrible impediment of compulsive behaviours are lifted and they are once more able to live up to their true potentials. This year I have been hearing from people completing university in the USA, starting a new family in the UK and one young lady who has started training as an addiction therapist with young people in South Africa! I was especially glad to hear from her because she was someone I had been very worried about. She reported that the young patients were giving her a really hard time. It's wonderful to see there is some justice in recovery!
Making the decision to come into treatment can be very difficult and making the journey to the clinic can be rather daunting. Because of this we offer a pick up service which is proving very popular indeed. A car can be sent from PROMIS with a staff member who can assist and give assurances to make this a comfortable journey. I think this makes such a big difference, to experience PROMIS’s friendly support right from the very start.
