- Bulimia can lead to a range of health issues, including problems with the heart, kidneys, stomach and intestines, and problems with fertility.
- Body Dysmorphia is the state in which patients do not believe that their body looks like it actually does. They may see themselves as thin when they are in fact fat.
- In extreme cases, bulimia can be fatal due to heart failure.
- An imbalance or dangerously low levels of the essential electrolytes and minerals in the body can significantly, even fatally affect the working of vital internal organs.
- Signs of bulimia can include tooth decay and bad breath, caused by recurring vomiting. If the sufferer vomits repeatedly, their salivary glands become inflamed and their face will look swollen.
- Eating disorders are linked with other addictive processes such as shopping, spending, caffeine, exercise and work. Self-harm can also be associated.
