- 1.15 million people suffer with eating disorders in the UK.
- 10% of all cases of eating disorders will be men.
- Anorexia can lead to a range of health issues, including problems with the heart, kidneys, stomach & intestines and problems with fertility.
- Anorexia has a very high rate of mortality : between 13−20% of anorexia sufferers will die from complications.
- Osteoporosis is very common in Anorexia.
- Body Dysmorphia is the state in which patients do not believe that their body looks like what it actually does look like. They may see themselves as fat when in fact they are thin or vice versa.
- Anorexia is linked with other addictive processes such as shopping, spending, caffeine, exercise & work. Self-harm can also be associated.
Immediate Admission
Immediate admission is possible and often necessary as our patients, and their families, can find themselves in crisis situations.
