Linda Stevens
Assistant Treatment Director
Linda Stevens is the Treatment Director for the PROMIS Recovery Centre in Kent. Linda has worked at PROMIS since 1993 and has achieved many qualifications over the years including Practitioner skills for Eating Disorders awarded by the British Psychological Society, an Addictive Behaviours Counselling Diploma from AEB and a CSCI Diploma in Counselling amongst others. Linda's specialist interests include eating disorder addiction/recovery, family therapy & counselling, Choice Theory and the development of the PROMIS therapeutic programme. Linda runs the family programme in conjunction with Margaret Lefever.
Alan Cox
Senior Addictions Counsellor
Alan Cox is a recovering alcoholic and an Addictions Counsellor at the PROMIS Recovery Centre in Kent. Alan achieved a Bsc Hons in Biological Sciences later specialising in Genetics Research and PGCE in teaching which led him into the teaching profession for 19 years prior to beginning work at PROMIS. Alan has worked at the Recovery Centre since 2000 and has specific areas of interest in young people & addiction; and addiction education & research. Alan also has a CPCAB certificate in Humanistic Counselling and a Post Graduate Diploma in Addictions Counselling.
Jeff Cockfield
Senior Twelve Step Addictions Counsellor
Jeff joined PROMIS in 2003 as a trainee counsellor, having worked for 25 years in commercial credit management. He gained a Masters degree (MSc) in Addiction Counselling from the University of Greenwich in 2006. Jeff is in recovery himself from alcoholism and has been abstinent since 1995. His speciality area is Spirituality and the Twelve Step Programme. Areas of interest and further development are grief and loss, working with families and dealing with guilt and shame.
Joe Illovsky
Twelve Step Addictions Counsellor
Joseph Illovsky joined the staff at The PROMIS Recovery Centre in Kent, in 2007. Joe came to us from the U.S.A. where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mental Health/ Human Services, and a masters of social work from the state University of New York at Stony Brook. Additionally, he is a licensed clinical social worker in the U.S. Joe has been in the addictions field for 20 years. He is an EMDR practitioner, and specialises in Addiction counselling. His main interests lie in individual, family, couples, and group counselling.
Jane Ebdy
Addictions Counsellor
Jane Ebdy is an Addictions Counsellor at the PROMIS Recovery Centre in Kent. Jane has an AEB/CAC Certificate in Counselling Skills & Theory and has also attended a GCT Intermediate Group Work course. She is currently studying the PROMIS/London South Bank University MSc in Addiction Psychology & Counselling. Jane is interested in all aspects of addictions counselling and is keen to develop her knowledge & experience.
Laura Swanepoel
Addictions Counsellor
Laura started working at The PROMIS Recovery Centre, Kent in August 2006. She has a post graduate diploma in Addiction Psychology and Counselling and is currently working towards her Msc. Laura is interested in all kinds of addictive processes and behaviours but her specialist interest is in eating disorders and her dissertation looks at how patients with anorexia nervosa experience treatment. Laura is currently playing an active role in the development of a new treatment programme Achilles which she says is an exciting new venture and allows her to make the most of her love and passion for counselling and the best use of her skills.
Russell McVitie
Addicitions Counsellor
Russel has been a Twelve Step Counsellor at PROMIS Recovery Centre in Kent since 2006. His experience as a personal trainer/fitness instructor means he has a great deal of knowledge with regard to Health and Fitness. Russel specialises in treating patients with eating disorders as his training and knowledge with regard to exercise and nutrition play an active role.
Russel aims to get patients to look at their physiological (physical) health as well as thier psychological (mental) health during their stay. At PROMIS we aim to involve some form of connection between our patients achieving and maintaining total sobriety by making lifestyle changes a collation between the mental, physical and spiritual health of themselves.
Clare Fairbank
Equine Counsellor
Clare joined PROMIS in 2004 as a trainee counsellor though already holding full EAP (Equine Assisted Psychotherapy) qualifications. Before working for PROMIS she worked for riding for the disabled for 25year. Clare has a Masters degree (MSc) in Addictions Counselling and Psychology from the London South Bank University. Clare has been in recovery herself from alcoholism and has been abstinent since 2002. Her speciality area EAP but she is interested in all aspects of addictions counselling and is keen to develop her knowledge and experience.
Eric Needham
12 Step Bilingual Counsellor
Eric Needham , was born in the UK and after studying at Leeds University (B.A.) has taught a variety of subjects; Music (piano and guitar), English (C.T.E.F.L.) and Theatre. Eric was a teacher at the Paris Chamber of Commerce for 12 years and became actively involved with distance learning projects and is himself a professionally qualified Web Designer and Developer. Eric enjoys writing in French and one of his plays, 'Les Gens Ordinairre,' was successfully staged at Le Theatre de l'Epouvantail in 1998. Since 2004 Eric has been working in the field of addiction and would like to expand his use of drama and music within a therapeutic context.

Caroline Beresford
Assistant Nursing Manager
Caroline trained at Christ Church University College, qualifying in 2003 with a Dip HE in Nursing Studies RMN specialising in the challenging behaviour field. On qualifying Caroline started working at PROMIS as a clinical nurse quickly moving up to Assistant Nursing Manager. Caroline has worked in the addiction field for approximately 2 years; her duties include assessing individuals on admission, referring to the physiatrist when necessary. The largest aspect of her job is to offer 'a shoulder' whereby days events can be discussed with someone who is not actively involved in groups or counselling sessions. She offers a holistic approach in caring for individuals taking into account all aspects of their lives.
Roz Macklin
Senior HCA
Roz started working at PROMIS in 2005. She has many year of experience of working with people with mental health problems and also substance misuse.
Her job here at PROMIS involves working alongside the Clinical and Medical staff insuring that the Nurses and Counsellors are fully supported by herself and the other HCA's. The main role in Roz's job is to ensure the patients are provided with the care and support they need whilst undertaking treatment right through from admission to discharge. Roz is a very non judgemental person, with good communication skills and is able to stay calm in any situation; all of these qualities play a key part in her role here at PROMIS. Her job also involves ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed and to oversee all the HCA's and ensure that they are working to the best of their ability and that all of their needs are met.

Dr Abdurahman
Psychiatrist
Dr Fouzy Abdurahman has been a Consultant Psychiatrist at PROMIS since the 1980's and has a vast amount of experience in his field. Dr Abdurahman has a MBBS, FRCPsych and DPM and his roles is to provide Mental State Assessments with a view to eclectic treatments along psychological therapies and medication as required, working alongside the medical and clinical staff. He works with individuals over the age of 16 with diagnoses of Alcohol and Drug Addiction, Eating Disorders, Anxiety and Panic Disorders, Affective Disorders, the Psychoses and Organic Disorders. Dr Abdurahaman's areas of interest are in behavioural therapies and supportive psychotherapy, hypnosis and treatment with medication.

David Robinson
Crisis Assessment Team Co-ordinator
David Robinson has been involved with the PROMIS Recovery Centre since 1990. He handles admissions and enquiries, supported by the clinical and medical staff. David has first hand experience of the recovery programme offered here at PROMIS as he himself is a recovering alcoholic and has been in treatment at The PROMIS Recovery Centre.

James Hyndman
Head Chef
James joined PROMIS in 2003 as Head Chef. James has various qualifications to support his role including Level 3 craft awards for Kitchen, Larder and Pastry work, Assessor awards for training level 2 and 3 NVQ in food preparation and cooking and advanced hygiene and necessary mandatory certificates.
The kitchen pride themselves in the quality of food they serve and offer here at PROMIS, all ingredients are sourced locally and are free range or organic where possible, to ensure the very best quality all time they have recently started growing a lot of vegetables, salads and herbs in house to further their aim. Everything is prepared from scratch, and a degree of butchery is also done on site, they prepare the fish from local catches daily, all the vegetables, bread, desserts, sauces, stocks, build-up drinks, are prepared from scratch, this gives them the control we need over quality and the belief that all the dishes are safe to offer to patients who are suffering from an eating disorder, the kitchen staff have the specialist knowledge required concerning food disorders in order to adapt a patients their diet accordingly. The kitchen team believe that it is possible to provide anything possible that a patient could request through the varied experience and skill levels of all the staff.
Immediate Admission
Immediate admission is possible and often necessary as our patients, and their families, can find themselves in crisis situations.
