Treatment Programmes
One-to-One Therapy
A range of therapists can be consulted to address a range of different issues. Although it is common for a patient to work with one main therapist, it is also possible to draw in other specialist help from a number of professionals working either for, or in association with PROMIS. These sessions can be arranged at times to fit in with the busy lives our patients lead.
Group Therapy
Patients share experiences with each other during group sessions which are led by highly trained PROMIS therapists. This particular therapy develops an understanding of the common thoughts, feelings and actions that lead to addictive and compulsive behaviour. You are not alone. Everyone is interdependent and it can be quite comforting to realize how other people mirror the exact way you are feeling.
Psychodrama
In psychodrama, PROMIS provides an innovative approach to treatment, in a reassuring and understanding setting. Patients either re-enact traumatic or confrontational episodes in their past or prepare themselves for future challenges, either real or imagined. Psychodrama provides an added stimulus to the recovery process.
Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR)
PROMIS offers this specialised treatment for expressing and releasing suppressed, deep-seated emotions. These are often found in addictive and compulsive behaviours and also in depression. The treatment is provided in a reassuring manner by our experienced clinical staff.
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP)
PROMIS offers this therapy programme to promote positive emotional wellbeing, confidence and greater communication skills. This carefully structured treatment uses interaction with horses to provide different challenges for people to overcome. Through various exercises the patients discover a fresh ability to solve problems with action and develop new communication skills. It also enhances trust. ‘Horses are such intelligent animals offering an incredibly valuable learning tool to discover who one truly is’ says our Equine Specialist.
Creative Therapy
Promis encourages patients to express themselves through music, collage, painting and sculpture. Individuals can express their emotions via these mediums, providing an essential stimulus to help recovery. Our music therapist facilitates people’s stories by putting them into song and verse.
