PROMIS believes that addiction is an illness that affects not only the primary sufferer but also has knock-on effects on family and close friends. The pain of addiction is felt not only by the sufferer but can be just as severe for those who care for and have relationships with him or her.
Our family group gives help and support, allowing family members and friends to have the opportunity to say how they feel about what has been happening in their lives. To look at ways in which they might take more care of themselves and thus take away the total preoccupation with the others in their lives.
We believe that the more that family members and close friends can be involved, the better the outcome for the patient.
The family programme is an important part of the whole treatment process. Our aim is to help the whole family to get well and for us to be there to smooth out the inevitable rough patches of early recovery. It is our experience that the fmily programme is a vtal support to sustaining recovery.
PROMIS is registered with the Commission for Social Care Improvement. Referrals for
